CalChrome 5 Layer Chrome - All layers
Chrome

Chromium is a very unique element, and when polished and applied to the underlying layers of nickel, creates a lustre that is unmatched.

This final, and perhaps most difficult layer to achieve properly, is only applied to the wheel once it passes all inspections. The chrome layer adds that something extra to that you just don't get in a polished aluminum wheel. It takes years of experience and the right touch to know just the right amount of time each wheel needs to generate an even coating.

Chromium, being passive with oxygen, creates microscopically thin, insoluble, protective oxide which will further help prevent corrosion of underlying materials. It also protects the bright nickel layer from tarnish, and minimizes scratching.

It is often assumed that multiple layers of chromium are applied to a wheel, this is not the case at all. The chrome layer is the final layer applied, in a long process, which creates the characteristics associated with chrome wheels.
