Our Black Chrome plating is a proprietary blend of different processes, which creates a totally unique and durable finish. This "smoked", translucent appearance resembles what a chrome wheel would look like if window tinting could be applied to it. The final result is a subtle, sporty look that stands out from any other custom wheel finishes.

This finish is actually more durable than the industry's previous "black chome" processes. Other competitor's finishes fail to hold up over time and often have inconsistencies in their color. In addition, many "black chrome" platers are unable to warrant their product. Our industry-leading Black Chrome technology allows us to offer a one year warranty.

Because of the application of this multi-stage procedure, processing time is slightly longer at approximately 12-20 work days.
Payment is required prior to any work being performed. Payment for chrome work is accepted via Personal / Company check, PayPal, or Money Order. You may send payment along with the wheels attached to the Customer Instruction Sheet. This will help expedite processing time. If you are unsure of the work to be performed, we can upon receiving your wheels, send you an estimate once we have determined what work needs to be performed.

Conditions such as climatic region, relative maintenance, and of course vehicle color all need to be factored into which black chrome finish your decide on. At California Chrome Wheel Inc., we have worked very hard to develop our black chrome product. It is of upmost importance to us, that the black chrome finish be as high quality as possible, and to share in the unique properties of bright chrome.
As is plainly visible in the examples above
the competitors black chrome has a very poor surface quality, with pits and an "Orange Peel" texture to the entire surface, as well as a brown hue to the reflections. CalChromes wheel on the other hand, has a smooth, highly reflective surface, with a lustre that only comes from true chrome plating.
Just like a clear coat on a vehicle with dark paint, proper care must be taken. Just as you would wash a black, painted vehicle with a constant supply of clean, fresh water, Black Chrome wheels must be washed with plenty of fresh, flowing water. Contaminants such as brake dust or dirt may scratch the wheel if they are wiped from the wheel without the presence of fresh water.
After cleaning, a coat of protective wax that is "Clear Coat Safe" will help to preserve the finish. If minor scratches do occur, they may be removed by using a high quality fine polish, or scratch remover that is "Clear Coat Safe".
NEVER use chrome polish or any aluminum polishes that have abrasives.
NEVER spray cold water on hot or warm wheels, this can result in damaging the appearance permanently.
Use caution around automatic car washes, due to their use of bristle brushes or acidic preparations that are used to remove wheel soils.
